Since it opened in 1894, the historic Mampei Hotel in Karuizawa has always attracted celebrities as well as prominent political, financial, and literary figures. Mori Trust’s role in the story of this internationally renowned hotel began in 1997.
We became involved in the hotel’s finances and operations following a request from Mampei Hotel; we saw this as an opportunity to bring the historic facilities and traditional spirit of hospitality of the Mampei Hotel into a new era.
We set about restoring the aging facilities to their former glory, and in 2001 we opened the new “Usui Kan” wing, embodying the best of historic Mampei Hotel luxury.
Further efforts to reinvigorate the hotel have include the opening of a branch of the famous Yugyo-an Tankuma Kita-mise restaurant specializing in Kyoto cuisine, in a response to a demand for quality Japanese food in Karuizawa.
The Mampei Hotel offers you timeless style, graceful traditions, a refined atmosphere, and tranquil surroundings, in addition to the comfort and convenience of a central city luxury hotel. Our restoration of these historic facilities has also earned us the appreciation of many long-term admirers of the Mampei Hotel. |
